Hygrometers are durable devices which most often use in their homes or various other activities such as for plants, cigars or wine cellars.

But the next best thing to a hygrometer is a hygro-thermometer.

A hygro-thermometer is a hygrometer with a thermometer.

These devices will not only measure humidity levels within the given areas, they will also measure temperature levels as well. They are often versatile and durable.

After reviewing a number of products we will be outlining our 5 best hygrometer with thermometer in this article together with a buying guide to help you make the best thermometer decisions.

This Temp Stick  Temperature & Hygrometer Sensor measures both temperature and humidity. It can connect to any WiFi network.

The Temp Stick will send you remote alerts by mail or text when the temperature or humidity levels surpass what you have preset.

You also get alerts when the battery level is running low. It is quite versatile and precise.  It monitors conditions in any surroundings from practically anywhere.

The Temp Stick is also extremely simple to set up and comes factory calibrated.

You also have the option of adjusting the calibration if you want to. It uses two AA batteries and customers have reported the batteries last from six to twelve months.

The battery life is however quite dependent on your usage levels.

You can easily monitor the hygrometer from wherever you are. It is our favorite because of its accurate readings, and ability to view your entire history on the app.

Pros

  • High reading accuracy
  • Wireless and connects to Wifi
  • Comes with a user-friendly app

The SensorPush Thermometer & Hygrometer digital hygrometer is an excellent choice for monitoring temperature and humidity levels in your home.

The sensor has a 325ft range via Bluetooth in ideal conditions with no interference.

There is also the option of purchasing a WiFi gateway device in order to receive alerts from anywhere.

When compared to the portable measurement unit, the gateway is an expensive and bulky accessory.

The SensorPush takes readings every minute and is able to store about 20 days of data on the device.

The data is ready for you to retrieve whenever you log back online. The sensor also comes with an app from which you can monitor the readings.

The sensor also runs on a CR2477 battery which provides about a year of battery life. This device is quite accurate, easy to set up and use.

It is also quite cheaper than the TempStick . However it gets slightly more expensive if you are getting the Wifi gateway device.

Pros

  • Easy to set-up
  • Can store upto 20 days of data
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Highly accurate readings.

Cons

  • Limited bluetooth range
  • Bulky and more expensive gateway accompaniment

The Ambient WS-10 Thermo-Hygrometer is a favorite for monitoring multiple locations in your home, including indoors and outdoors.

This device has a central indoor console and three remote sensors, and can be connected to up to eight consoles in total.

Both humidity and temperature readings are shown on the console. However, the sensors have to be in range of the wireless signal which is often 100ft.

With the Ambient Weather WS-10, you’ll receive alarms on the main console if either the temperature or moisture levels exceed your set  limits.

This makes it simple to monitor conditions throughout your home. It doesn’t come with an accompanying app which is a disadvantage of the product.

However, it is great for simultaneously monitoring different areas of your home.

Pros

  • Works both indoors and outdoors
  • Able to connect to eight sensors at once
  • User friendly and easy to read display

Cons

  • Doesn’t store past data
  • Limited wireless signal range

The Acurite 01083 Pro Accuracy Monitor is the option for you if you want a basic humidity monitor with excellent accuracy at a reasonable price.

A large display shows the humidity and temperature, as well as the high and low levels for the previous 24 hours.

There is a color-coded humidity indicator that shows whether the humidity level is too low, too high, or just right.

The AcuRite 01083 is simple to set up or mount anywhere within your home. It can be wall-mounted and sits vertically on a workstation or tabletop. It also has a magnetic backing.

This sensor has to be manually calibrated for the accurate temp and humidity readings.

It does, however, include stage process calibration instructions which helps to make the process easy for the user.

This device is a great option if you want to measure humidity and temp levels in one place without the option of remote monitoring.

It’s more basic than others on this list.

Pros

  • Cheap and affordable for home use
  • Display is easy to read
  • Easily set-up and mounted

Cons

  • Cannot function remotely
  • Can only store data for 24 hours

The Extech 445815 Humidity Meter is an excellent product and it is great for measuring hard to reach areas.

It has a large display that indicates the current moisture levels, temp, and vapor pressure of the room.

You can set minimum and maximum humidity levels, and receive audible and visual alerts when those levels are exceeded, just like the Ambient Weather WS-10.

The remote sensor has an 18-inch cable and monitors behind walls, in ducts, and in other difficult-to-access areas.

This is the sensor’s most distinguishing feature for us. It also comes with a stand for use on a desk or other flat surface, as well as a bracket for wall mounting.

This model does not support remote monitoring, and the only data stored is a recall of min and max readings made recently.

It is a bit more expensive for its basic functionality, but it is an excellent choice for professional applications and, of course, for reaching difficult areas.

You can find the Extech 445815 Humidity Meter at hardware stores.

Pros

  • Measures dew point in addition to humidity and temperature
  • Has a large and easy to read display
  • Can access difficult-to-reach areas.
  • Comes with a stand and wall mount.

Cons

  • Cannot carry out remote monitoring
  • Data storage is quite limited

Here is an article I wrote on the best hygrometers with digital outputs

Buying Guide

Choosing a hygrometer can be a slightly complicated decision as there are lots of options available.

However, there are some top considerations which will make your decision easier to carry out. We will outline them in this section.

Application

Your intended use of the hygrometer should be top of the mind when sourcing for one. There are different hygrometers suited to different uses.

For example, there are hygrometers to check humidity levels for cigars while some are more suited for a greenhouse.

You should be sure of your needs before purchasing a hygrometer.

Accuracy

The accuracy of the product is also quite important. If you need the hygrometer for simple home use, then you can go for a basic type.

However if it’s required for professional use, you might want to invest in an advanced model.

Analog or Digital

There is a lot of controversy relating to whether analog or digital hygrometers are better, however this depends on you.

Analog hygrometers have large displays which point to the range of the dial however they don’t provide exact readings.

Digital models on the other hand show you the exact changes in the humidity levels. The numbers change with the readings and they are easier to see than the moving needle.

Power Source

You should also decide whether you want a plugged in model or a wireless type. Wireless hygrometers rely on batteries which have varied life cycles.

For the electrical types, ensure you have the right adapters and power supply to use with it.

Remote Alerts and Monitoring

You can also require remote monitoring and alerts.

If you need to check the humidity levels in your wine cell or greenhouse you’ll need timely and accurate alerts from your hygrometer.

Basic hygrometers often do not come with remote monitoring functions.

For the advanced models, it will alert you once the levels go beyond the limits you have set and this can enable you to take the proper actions.

Conclusion

Like we mentioned earlier, hygro-thermometers are great and versatile devices to have at hand.

Having one at hand will provide you with accurate humidity and temperature levels.

In this article, we have outlined our top 5 hygrometer with thermometer and our top pick is the Temp Stick WiFi Temperature & Hygrometer Sensor.

It connects to Wifi, can store data, comes with a mobile app and also sends remote alerts.

The Temp Stick is a durable product and it is also easy to set up.

Our buying guide also lists the most important factors to consider when buying a hygrometer.
